Databricks Generative AI Engineer Associate · The Ambush Method
Know where the exam will ambush you.
A 16-chapter course for the Generative AI Engineer Associate exam. Study 30 minutes to an hour a day, learn the traps each topic sets, and rehearse on a full 45-question mock before you spend the real attempt.
100% free, with no paywalls, subscriptions or ads.
A RAG application returns answers that draw on the wrong passages. For about a fifth of test questions, no correct passage appears anywhere in the top fifty results of the first retrieval stage. What will improve these cases?
- 16 chapters + intro
- 100+ lessons
- 56 exam objectives
- 63 traps, one line each
- 45-question mock exam
Why memorizing fails
This exam asks what you’d do, not what a term means.
A question hands you a support team, a latency requirement, a budget line and four plausible architectures. Nothing in it asks you to define anything. Two weekends of definitions answer a test that isn’t the one in front of you. The course is built to train the other skill: pulling a scenario apart and finding the clause that decides it.
How the course teaches
Built around the traps.
Every chapter follows the same loop, so a topic is never just read once and forgotten.
- Every topic
Trap alerts
The look-alike options the exam leans on, explained side by side, so a reworded question doesn’t catch you.
- Every chapter
A named mental model
Fifteen short decision procedures. Each one settles a whole class of question before you read its options.
- Every block
Recall cards
Flashcards you answer honestly instead of flipping, opened straight from the lesson, with your progress saved.
- Every lesson
Micro-checkpoints
A quick check at the end of each block, so you find the gap today and not on exam day.
- Chapter 16
63 traps in one pass
Every trap alert in the course compressed to one line, grouped by exam section, as a self-test rather than reading.
- Chapter 16
A full mock exam
Forty-five questions under a 90-minute clock, with an explanation for every option and the chapter to revisit.
What the exam covers
Study where the points are.
Databricks publishes the weight of each of the six exam sections. The course follows the official objectives, and each chapter says which ones it closes, so your hours match the exam instead of your instincts.

The full mock exam
45 questions. 90 minutes. No page to reread.
The real exam won’t tell you where you lost points. The mock will: every option is explained, and every question points back to the chapter it came from, so a weak spot becomes a reading list.
Who made it
I wrote the course I wish I’d had before paying for the exam.
I’m Lucas Daudt. I’ve worked in data analysis for six years, five of them at Blip, a Brazilian chatbot and AI company. For a Brazilian, a certification exam costs close to a month’s minimum wage, so I was always afraid of failing and losing that money.
I passed this exam studying 30 minutes to an hour a day around my job, by learning how the questions are built instead of memorizing answers. This course is that method, written down. I take the real exam first, then fold back every topic it showed I had underestimated.
That’s why it’s free. I want anyone working to move their career forward to have good material without paying for it, especially if they feel the same insecurity I did. The exam fee is hard enough to cover without a course on top of it, and nobody should feel pushed toward leaked questions just to feel ready.

Before you start.
Do I need Databricks experience?
There’s no prerequisite. Databricks recommends about six months of hands-on experience, and the course teaches every topic from the ground up, but you’ll learn faster if you try each idea in a workspace while you read.
Do I really have enough time with a full-time job?
That’s who the method was built for. I passed studying 30 minutes to an hour a day, around a full-time job. Short, repeatable sessions beat rare long ones.
Why not just use exam dumps?
Leaked questions can be outdated, and memorizing them doesn’t teach you how to apply anything. When the exam rewords a question, memorized answers stop working. Using leaked exam content also breaks the certification rules you agree to before the test and can get your result cancelled or your certification revoked.
Is the course in English?
Yes. The exam is taken in English, so the material uses the same terms you’ll see on test day.
What happens when Databricks updates the exam?
The course is built on the exam guide dated March 2026, and product names do drift. The fifteen mental models are ways of deciding rather than facts about a product, so they keep working when a feature gets renamed. Re-check the official exam page when you book.
Is there a book version?
Yes. The course follows my book, Databricks Generative AI Engineer Associate Guide: The Ambush Method, which is available on Amazon. Get the book ↗
Is it really free?
Yes. The whole course is 100% free, with no paywalls, subscriptions or ads. You only create a free account, which is how the course saves your progress, your quiz attempts and your flashcards across devices.
Walk in knowing where the traps are.
Study a little every day, rehearse on the full mock, and spend your one attempt on an exam you’ve already seen. It’s 100% free, with no paywalls, subscriptions or ads.
